Acro comes from the ancient Greek akros. It means on the edge. That’s not a metaphor here. The hotel is built into a cliff on the north coast of Crete, and nearly every room watches the Aegean from above it.
Designed to Sit at the Edge
The architecture draws from the island’s own cliffside vernacular — terracing volumes, stone surfaces, the way mass meets light at the edge of water. The palette is earthy: raw stone, ancient wood from Mount Athos, Egyptian marble. Nothing was brought in to contrast with the landscape. Everything was chosen to disappear into it.
The stand-out rooms are the Cave Suites. These are carved directly into the cliff face — actual caverns shaped into living spaces. Private plunge pools. Sea views. Just reached differently, through stone and shadow rather than an open terrace.
Wave Suites and Loft Suites take the same approach from above — positioned for light, positioned for the horizon. The resort holds just 49 suites and villas total. Scale stays intimate. That’s architectural logic, not accident.
The Experience: Quiet, Elevated, Uninterrupted
Most suites come with a private infinity pool at the cliff’s edge. The line between the pool and the sea below it is not really there.
The spa is a Bath House built on hammam tradition — natural materials, heated water, quiet treatment rooms. The design language carries through from the rooms: stone, warmth, nothing excessive.
Three restaurants. Cremnos for elevated Greek cuisine with full sea views. Umi for Japanese-Peruvian fusion. Eleonas set inside an olive grove, serving seasonal Cretan food. Each has its own spatial logic and fits the terrain.
